Maud Pie Dog Tag And Foil Card

I'm not sure how long these have been out, but it seems like sometime last year Enterplay (the company that makes the My Little Pony trading cards) released series 2 of their Pony collectible dog tags, which includes a few Maud items. Dog tag #17 shows Maud on the front and her cutie mark on the back, but unfortunately the picture chosen is of her making that funny face she did in the horrid episode 98. Enterplay used to really impress me as being understanding fans of the show, but they've since been disappointing me in that regard. Foil card #TC17 does much better as it shows Maud from episode 83 with Gummy biting her tail. The back shows pictures of the mane six among other things, along with the quote, "I don't really like candy, but I do love Pinkie Pie."

Each pack contains one dog tag with chain, one foil card, and one metallic decal sticker. I haven't found a list of the nine metallic decal stickers yet, though I know there's at least Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Discord, so could there also be a Maud one? I wouldn't bet on it.

Maud May be in Season 6 and a Future Toy

On Facebook, Hasbro posted a teaser picture for Season 6 of My Little Pony, with a comment saying, "Coming in Season 6: Pinkie Pie will discover that there’s nothing quite as fun as rowing a Swan Boat through Manehattan with best friends!!" among other things.

After seeing this, it's fairly safe to say that Maud will appear in Season 6, and just about as safe to say that there will be an upcoming toy for her in Hasbro's "Explore Equestria" line-thingy, which the Row & Ride Swan Boat also suggested.

I Got Funko Maud a Pet

Sorry, I should have posted this a week ago, but I kept putting it off. I've stated before how I planned to get a little rock to act as Boulder for my large Maud Funko vinyl figure, and lo and behold I actually found a tiny rock on my floor soon after getting the figure. My only guess is that the rock had got into the cuff of my pant leg and hitched a ride into my home. So as you could assume, the rock has been dubbed "Boulder" and given to the Maud figure. Here's a picture I snapped with my cell phone:

Funko Vinyl Collectible Vinyl Figure Now Out

A few days ago I read reports that the large, non-blind-packaged Maud figure by Funko was being spotted in stores (Hot Topic, if nowhere else), leaving me to duly plan for an upcoming trip to my nearest Hot Topic. I was worried that maybe they would've sold out of the figure by the time I got there since I wasn't sure how long it'd been out or how fast these things sell, but I was happy to see that they still had one on the shelves. I grabbed it and soon noticed that it had a "Hot Topic Exclusive Pre-Release" sticker on it like my Princess Twilight Sparkle did, so I guess it's only at Hot Topic right now but will get released other places later or something.

The only nitpick I have with the package is the college-sweater-font they use, but everything else is great, especially that red backdrop they included this time around -- it really adds to it all. Now, let's take a look at it opened, in all it's well-sculpted glory.

I'm really satisfied with it -- I mean, it blows away any Hasbro release and just looks good regardless of any comparisons. A small detail I really appreciate is her non-smiling face -- the Enterplay Mane Character card for Maud had her smiling on both the front and back pictures which bugs me more than it probably should, but I just don't see it as the best representation of her considering she only smiles for a few seconds of her screen time compared to the minutes and minutes of her not smiling. But anyways, it's time for the customary hanging out with Fluttershy... and look, Pinkie Pie joined in, too.

Episodes

These are all the episodes of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic that Maud Pie's appeared in that I'm aware of:

- Episode 77 "Pinkie Pride" / Season 4
Maud's status: Quick cameo
My rating: (I haven't seen this one in too long -- it'd be wrong for me to try rating it)
Notes: Maud's only seen as a filly in a family photo for a brief moment.

- Episode 83 "Maud Pie" / Season 4
Maud's status: Starring role
My rating: ★★★★★★★★★★
Notes: My favorite episode of the entire series. Great stuff.

- Episode 98 "Make New Friends but Keep Discord" / Season 5
Maud's status: Somewhat significant speaking role
My rating: ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Notes: Practically every character was done wrong in this one, including Maud.

- Episode 111 "Hearthbreakers" / Season 5
Maud's status: Significant speaking role
My rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Notes: A pretty fun episode with some great characters, but sorta hampered, in my opinion, by the overused Apple family and Maud's not 100%-on-the-spot writing.

- Episode 116 "The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 1" / Season 5
Maud's status: Quick cameo
My rating: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
Notes: This wasn't bad, but it just seemed like it was going to be better. Instead, it was a convoluted piece of missed opportunities. Maud appears only as an alternate reality version of herself, by the way.

- Episode 117 "The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 1" / Season 5
Maud's status: Quick cameo
My rating: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Notes: This was much like Part 1, with some parts better and some parts worse. Maud appears only as an alternate reality version of herself, by the way, and only in the "Previously on My Little Pony" segment.

- Episode 120 "The Gift of the Maud Pie" / Season 6
Maud's status: Starring role
My rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆
Notes: This is Maud's best appearance after "Maud Pie". One of my favorite episodes, I'd say.

Episode 117 Appearance

After seeing episode 116 with Maud, as I stated in my review of the episode, I kept an eye out for her to return in the second part of the story: episode 117. At the time I didn't see her show up, but upon a second viewing of the beginning of it, I found that perhaps I was reaching for some Chex Mix or something when she apparently did appear (though in my defense it was a quick appearance). It occurs during the "Previously on My Little Pony" part before the theme song, and just shows a clip of her, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash from episode 116. Nothing big, but nevertheless she's there.

With all these appearances on the show, maybe I should be making a post about them all like I do with the cards and comics...

Episode 116 Appearance

As of November 28, 2015, season 5 of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is now concluded. Though there were a high amount of bad episodes, there were certainly some gems, too, like "Amending Fences" and that pretty fantastic run of "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows", "Hearthbreakers", and "Scare Master". When I was watching the episode "The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 1" -- the first of the two-part finale -- I was starting to get pretty excited about the plot. Long story short, an ordeal with time travel was going to let us see the mane six as they'd be if they never got their cutie marks the way they did. Besides just sounding like a fun, creative plot, I was hoping we'd see Pinkie Pie still on the rock farm with Maud, complete with the rest of the Pie family and her deflated mane. Unfortunately the plot got a lot more convoluted than that, but we did still did get to see Maud, sure enough.

With the past changed as I've said, a snowball effect impacts the present leaving King Sombra forcing the crystal ponies into a war against Equestria. During one of the war's battles, we see two of King Sombra's soldiers pushing a large boulder off a cliff down towards where Rainbow Dash, in battle gear, is standing. This is where Maud comes in, when she and Pinkie Pie (also in battle gear) jump in and intercept the rock, annihilating it in the same jack-hammer manner Maud did to save Pinkie in the episode "Maud Pie". Besides being decked-out in the brownish-grayish full body suit with shoulder pads and a belt and such, her mane is also different -- the back is short and spiky, directed in an upward fashion much like Limestone Pie's mane, though the front seemed to remain the same. Her tail was also cut shorter, and due to the dire circumstances, I suppose, her eyes actually visually expressed more emotion this time around, making it where her purple eyelids weren't as immediately noticeable. After their deed, the two salute and go back off-screen. From here I kept an eye out for her, but I never saw her return later in either two parts [EDIT: Oh wait, read the next post...]

This marks Maud's fifth show appearance, correct? Wow, the number's starting to get up there. We'll have to wait who knows how long until the show comes back for season 6, but let's hope for some more rock farm glory.
