Pie Sisters #7 F CCG Card

Pie Sisters
Pinkie Pie & Maud Pie Tin
#7 F

This card is exclusive to the "Pinkie Pie & Maud Pie Tin". It shows a picture of Maud hugging Pinkie on the train from the "Maud Pie" episode. As I've said elsewhere on the blog, I really like this shot and the moment it represents from the show. Text on the card says, "Pinkie and Maud simultaneously have almost everything and absolutely nothing in common." I'd say that's pretty accurate. Having similar interests seems pretty significant to allow two people (or ponies) to be relatable, but what's more important is if they are both respectful, caring, and overall nice and such, which both Pinkie and Maud are.

Rock Poetry #1

This is the first of who knows how many rock poems I'll post here that I've written myself. This first one's about rocks. They're all about rocks. Also, they're all dedicated to Maud Pie.

Rocks.
Little treasures.
No hunt of any kind.
Yet joy is had upon their presence.
Presents not hard to find.
A diamond found amongst the sticks.
A metaphor for metamorphics.
And other kinds of rocks.
Rocks.

Coming: Hasbro Figure

It's likely that for the first time ever there will be a Maud figure made. It's like an average My Little Pony Hasbro figure with the rotatable head and realistic mane... except for one downside in my opinion: it'll be part of a line called "Pony Mania" that has it where she'll be covered in flower patterns for some reason.

I don't know why they'd make a novelty Maud figure before making an average one, but that's how it'll be. As you can see, she will come with her dress (also covered in flowers) and will be a Toys R Us exclusive. She's labeled as "Maud Rock Pie" on the package, and I think I remember reading somewhere that she's sometimes referred to as that, but this is the first time I actually recall seeing it.

I'll probably buy this when it comes out simply because it's the first Maud figure to be made, but otherwise I'd have to question if it's worth it simply because of the obnoxious designs on her. I liked Maud how she was in the "Maud Pie" episode, not how she could have looked infected with some flower rash...

New Episode Appearance?

I've read elsewhere that Maud will be appearing in at least one Season 5 episode, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers for the series so I'm not going to investigate. If such an episode does indeed get made, I hope they manage to keep her exactly how she is. I don't want to see her be over the top with the rock obsession as some seem to push, and I don't want to see her break character for a "wow" or "funny" moment as often happens on TV etc. I liked the first two episodes of Season 5, and feel like the third might be one of the best ever (which really means something considering it didn't star either of my two favorite ponies Maud or Fluttershy), so there's definitely hope that another Maud appearance could be a good thing, though it's inherently risky with such a quirky, offbeat characterization that was accomplished so well the first time. I'm staying optimistic that she'll survive untarnished, and if that's the case, it really would be fun to see Maud's canon augmented.

Rock N Rave 2-Player Starter Set CCG

This came out a while ago, and though I can't remember if I saw it online or in stores first, I do know I was really excited when I found it at a Meijer one day. It's the Rock N Rave 2-Player Starter Set for the My Little Pony Collectible Card Game, and in addition to giving Maud half the bill and prominent art on the box, it also comes with a few Maud cards, too. It was the first product to feature her that I know of, which meant it was a no-brainer to pick up. The two cards are an exclusive Maud Pie Mane Character card and a few "Rock Solid Fashion" Event cards.

The Maud Pie Theme Deck allows you to play as Maud Pie, which is awesome (I mean, how cool is it that Maud not only got considered, but actually picked as one of the Mane Characters for a whole deck?). I tried to learn how to play the game with this pack, but it's really confusing. I've tried again since, but still can't get it all straight, especially with those Troublemaker cards and Event cards and such. Whatever, this pack was still worth every penny.

Maud Card Haul

Last Thursday (April 16, 2015) I went out to Target and picked up a few packs of the My Little Pony Series 3 Trading Cards and was hoping to get some Maud cards (of course), but in particular, I wanted to get the standee. I opened two packs to no avail, and by the third and final one, I was ready to settle for any Maud card. When I opened it, I was fairly astounded to behold that the top card was the "Maud Pie" Non-Foil Character card.

I already felt like I beat the odds when, to my surprise, I soon found that elsewhere in the very same pack was the "Maud Pie" Episode card. Already ecstatic with joy, I couldn't believe what I next found -- the Rock Poetry Sticker. Three Maud items, and all in one pack.

The hunt for the Maud Standee continues, but nevertheless, this was truly a pack of cards made for me, and I feel extremely fortunate to have been the one to open it. It's one of those moments I wish I could experience everyday.

Mislabeled Rock on MLP Series 3 Trading Card

I noticed that on card #14 in the MLP Series 3 Trading Cards set (the "Maud Pie" Non-Foil Character card) there's a picture of a rock on the back that's labeled as her pet rock Boulder. The thing is, the rock pictured is not Boulder, it's actually the random sedimentary rock Maud picks up early in the episode "Maud Pie".

This was a pretty honest mistake to make, but I wanted to warn Enterplay (the company that made the card) about it so that if they plan on making any future Maud Pie or Boulder cards, they can correct it. Thus, I emailed them, and speedily received a reply saying that they had indeed noticed the mistake but that I was the first person outside the company to bring it up to them. I take my Maud Pie very seriously.

Pinkie Pie and Maud Pie Tin

Sometime recently (either this month or last month, March or April 2015) I visited a Toys R Us with plans to buy some My Little Pony Series 3 Trading Cards. Unfortunately, there were none to be found and I had no choice but to leave empty-handed. I resolved to visit another one that same day, and as I walked up to the trading card area this time, not only did I find some packs, but I also found this amazing Pinkie Pie & Maud Pie Tin. I first heard about it through a YouTube video, and since I instantly knew I had to get it, I was happy to stumble upon it. When I returned home, I got to admire the lunchbox-style tin for the first time in person.

It showcases several pictures of Pinkie and Maud, such as them talking after the "Pinkie-Rainbow-Rari-Twi-Apple-Flutter-Maud Fun Time" obstacle course, them at the picnic with Boulder, Pinkie hugging Maud in Rarity's boutique (which, oddly, has the background altered to be an arrangement of the train's interior background), and even some of the rock candy samples.

Upon opening it up, I was greeted with a fantastic poster of Maud hugging Pinkie Pie (the hug that actually happened in the train). It's a really great picture of the two sisters that perfectly captures the relationship Maud and Pinkie have -- they're so different, and yet they function on a completely mutual level of courtesy and respect. I made sure to scrounge up a frame so I could hang it on my wall.

Also inside the tin were an assortment of Collectible Card Game cards and Series 3 Trading Cards, including an exclusive "Pie Sisters" card which shows the same picture as the poster. I opened the card packs up hoping to get some of the Maud cards, particularly the standee, but had no such luck. I'm really glad this tin got made, as it's fun to find some really well made Maud merchandise out in the wild, especially one with such attention to detail. I can't help but think that the people at Enterplay (the company that made this) must be pretty big Pony fans themselves.
